Since I announced my exploratory committee for the Arizona State Senate in April, I have been overwhelmed by the support and well wishes from people all over Legislative District 18, my long time home, and others throughout the state. I knew our community was eager for change, and hearing it from so many of you has caused me to make an announcement a little earlier than I was planning!
This election is too important to the future of our state for me to wait on the sidelines any longer, and that is why I am announcing today that I am all in for the LD18 State Senate race in 2016.
I am all in because this race is critical to turning our state around. In the most competitive legislative district in Arizona, and one of the most targeted state senate races in the nation, I am ready to spend the next year and a half proving to LD18 voters that I am up for the job, and worthy of representing them.
I am all in because my opponent has shown time and time again that he does not represent our community at the capitol. His votes to cut education, discriminate against our LGBT community, and support special interest giveaways show he is just another career politician out of step with the moderate and pragmatic tradition of LD18.
In light of his voting record, and the many questions surrounding his personal history, one thing is clear: Jeff Dial cannot be trusted to represent the values and the priorities of Legislative District 18.
Andrew Carnegie once said, “My heart is in the work.” Over the next year and a half, my heart is in the work of turning our state blue. In the senate, I will vote to strengthen our schools, grow our economy, and turn our state around.
I can’t wait to get started. Please join me on this journey.
